Note to self by Elly Morgan 2005, When I'm a Gran and all but retired, I want to remember the good times I've had, But I want to remember just how I feel now, So that I can be useful to my children somehow, Remember the doorbell is a cursed sound, When my newborn and I are asleep profound. If the place is a mess don't walk on passed, Put the dishwasher on even if not asked, By all means, come over for tea, If I'm on my feet make a cup for me, Stay for bath time too, Wash the merry band, I'm exhausted now, I just need a hand, Remember the fun, you can have with kids, But they don't cove in jars with push down lids, They are real and noisy and no body's fool, They cry sometimes when they're home from school, Remember that feeling of loosing control, Of your temper your reason in fact your soul, There's no end to the mess there's no order here, I'm not coping so well, I'm just tired I fear, I cannot remember who I once was, Now that I'm a Mum my brain turned to fuzz, I had a good job and respect from my piers, I'd not forget a thing - Oh! it drives me to tears, Yes my garden needs weeding well there's the hoe, If I had times to do it, I would don't you know, If you never receive that thank you note, Have patience with me its stuck in my coat, Just give me your love your time and be there, Encourage me because I quite scared, This is new to me such responsibility, And you understand, You've been here already, Don't tell me how it used to be you see, Its hard enough knowing how it is and should be, You're a Granny now the pace of life is slow, Give me a bit more time and I'll soon get to know
